Bastion street is now actually Bastion square, it’s been filled in and is used for public markets and things like that. 

There are stories about the square being haunted because public hangings used to take place there. It was also the original site of Fort Victoria, when the island was first colonized by the Hudson’s Bay company.

James “Boy” Dunsmuir died in 1915 aboard the Lusitania, when it was sunk by German torpedoes. He was only 21. Boy was crossing to join the British army, the Royal Scots Greys specifically.   High-res
