Cecil Healy, who would go on to win two medals, one gold and one silver, for swimming in the Stockholm Olympics in 1912. He died at the Somme during a German attack on August 29, 1918 at age 36. He is, to date, the only Olympic gold medalist from Australia to die on the battlefront.
