Saw male earth-being, with uncertain tread, approach house — was evidently in weak and feeble condition — on reaching outer portal of house earth-being made un-graceful mesmeric passes over surface of portal, continuing to do so until excited female earth-being within came to his relief.

The Martians, to paraphrase Prof. Cranshaw, “if they have intelligence equal to our own” undoubtedly would be able to read plain English.
