  29. mistfather said: I feel like it could be an individual by individual basis, but for the most part? Statues of real people exist to glorify an idealized image. If what is glorified is worthy (rare, often religious statues in religions where the depiction of that being isn’t disrespectful), it’s so detached from its original purpose that it just becomes a piece of art with the human form as its subject (most historical statues, like for Caesar), or it actually is a form of decoration
  30. aevapollo said: @mistfather So what about statues of anyone else besides racists? I agree that we shouldn’t build statues of colonizers and slave owners, but those aren’t the only statues in the world.
