Hi! Is there an explanation for four newspapers, three of which are from different states, talking about "equal rights for ghosts" at the end of January in 1950?

They’re just different headlines for the same column, part of a syndicated daily series of random observations (really random - in the week preceding this column he wrote about wine tastings, glassblowers, the H-bomb, hypnotism and trousers) by Pulitzer prizewinner Hal Boyle. He worked for the Associated Press and at one point his columns could be seen in upwards of 700 different papers a day!
