Any idea why there are no women in the crowd for that Harry Houdini photo? I assume it's probably some sort of 'ladies are too sensitive and will faint dead away at his terrifying antics' silliness, but one never knows for sure unless one asks.

I’m not sure why there aren’t many ladies! The Vancouver Sun (the picture was taken by one of their staff - and Houdini is hanging from their building) doesn’t have an online archive from 1923 (edit: after looking around, apparently others have searched and even in the Vancouver Library they don’t have that date’s front page on microfilm so unless someone has a private copy we’re pretty much out of luck!) and the Vancouver Daily World didn’t have much to say (probably because the event was pretty much hosted by The Sun)..
