I'm curious about your handkerchief post. Did the article list these as superstitions? Handkerchiefs have a long history of use as nonverbal communication, codes for flirtation, etc, so I'm curious about your source.

It’s from a book called Are You Superstitious? by Augusta Rita Moore, published in 1915. Here’s a link, it’s on page 17.
