Reading old historical newspapers is a hobby of mine and while I've found one or two websites that have a bunch, i was wondering if you have any recommendations! For instance, that "policeman sees snakes" post caught my eye and I'd love to find the actual story that goes with it. Can you help me out?

Library of Congress is a great free resource. Lots of newspapers there, it’s got a pretty nice layout and it’s easy to use. Some other more local ones can be a pain, I know my local paper’s archive site isn’t easy to navigate! My favorite is newspapers.com, that’s what I usually use, because it’s even easier than Library of Congress, and you can save clippings (and browse other people’s clippings) but there’s a fee - and recently they’ve added a “second tier” called “newspapers extra” which drives me nuts - I already paid once, lol!
And here’s the whole snake article, but I warn you, it’s very long!
