  16. yesterdaysprint said: The Pantages family were known for their theatre on Hastings. Peter later opened Peter Pan Cafe on Granville. Legend has it that he came up with the idea of the polar bear swim (in Canada at any rate) in 1920 after drunkenly explaining to friends that it was possible to swim in English Bay any day of the year.
