We don’t like the wrist watch simply because we don’t understand it. It is, however, of military and therefore of honorable origin. It was worn by men before it was worn by women. It was invented in foreign barracks long before the war broke out.
And, of course, their sweethearts borrow them, just as girls over here borrow seal rings and sweaters.
