Bow graciously and say: “how do you do?”. Add the name if you are sure you understood it correctly. Never use “delighted”, “pleased to meet you” or “charmed”.

The best social authorities say that a “lady on the left” is NOT a lady. That is, a lady should always sit on a gentleman’s right in a car or a taxicab.

The woman has the privilege of acknowledging acquaintance with a man.
