Hi, my name is Kalie. I live in British Columbia, Canada, with my husband and our two cats.

Where do you find your clippings/photos?

I mostly use newspapers.com and Chronicling America, but when I’m looking for something super specific I’ll use more local sources like university or state/provincial archives, which is where I also find all the photos I post. 

What made you want to start this blog?

When I got a kindle around 2009 I downloaded hundreds of public domain books (pre-1920s) and I was really struck by how our sentiments, actions and feelings really hadn’t changed all that much - most books, especially when you’re reading conversations or about a characters thoughts, could’ve been written today and it might be difficult to tell the difference. I wanted to dig deeper though, and see what the day to day lives of people were like back then, and I think newspapers are pretty much the best way to do that!
